- Waterfall 1...
I liked the concept of the waterfall and the light fall in the same photo, but it didn't exactly work out. But it was an interesting idea so I decided to post it anyway. - View up the gorge from the lookout.
In this photo you can see the Columbia river on the left and the gorge hillside on the right. The right side has quite a few different waterfalls that were mostly frozen that day. - Upper falls leading to babbling brook
- Upmost Falls
- Top of fall 1.
- The two very cold Becks...
- The top of Multnomah Falls
- The Lower Falls
The interplay between the calmness of the wood and ice and the action of the fall interested me. - The frozen wall at Horsetail Falls.
- The bridge at the base of Multnomah Falls
This struck me as very Tolkienesque. - Outside..
I like the out of focus area on this - Much smoother than my last camera. - MY VERY FIRST PHOTO!
My First 5D Photo Ever! - More Waterfall 1.
I liked the visual contrast between the moss and the cold blue waterfall. - More Upper Falls
- Icy Babbling Brook 2
Every branch seems to have 6 inches of ice hanging down from it. - Icy Babbling Brook
We liked the contrast of the milky water and the stark ice. - Iced Fern
- Ice Wall
We had to hike up a hill to get to this wall of ice. It was a good 30-40 feet tall. You're only seeing the right half of it. As we took pictures, chunks of ice would skid down the hill. - Ice composition 2
- Ice composition 1.
We were driving further down the gorge and we saw a cliff face that had a wall of ice, so we stopped and took some ice photos. - Ice Caterpillar
Sara found a branch, covered in ice, that had falled off a tree. The light-play through the ice is fascinating. - Horsetail Falls
- Cup - ISO 1600 - Hand Held.
This cup was sitting on my desk and I grabbed a shot of it. Pretty good for hand held. - Crown Point
At the beginning of the Columbia River Gorge, there is a lookout point with an interesting stone viewpoint. The wind up there was quite fierce and so we didn't stay out very long. - Canon 5D - ISO 400
Then I shot the image with my new camera... much better! - Canon 5D - ISO 3200
So then I tried to see how bad the image would get... Not too bad! - Canon 5D - ISO 100
So then I checked the 'best' - Really good! - Bridge and Lower Falls
- Base of Waterfall 1.
There is a walkway that you can see on the bottom of the photo, but we couldn't get any closer because it was covered in ice. - Aren't we all tourists?
The joy and excitement of tourists...a very human moment.
